Astrology, like everything else in our culture right now, is unfortunately floundering in the era of midwittian expertise—a purgatorial bandwidth where individuals possess just enough symbolic vocabulary to perform authority, but nowhere near enough gnosis to transmit it. What the zodiacal influencer class offers is astrology as spectacle. Each lunation is recast as a telenovela climax; an emotionally fragile call to “journal, hydrate, and tend to the inner child.” Every retrograde is a planetary betrayal. It’s all fever-pitch and crescendo, meanwhile the root of the root—the metaphysical architecture beneath the sky-script, remains unacknowledged and untapped. What was once a language of the soul’s correspondence with cosmic order has been domesticated into a content genre.
As a covert Chart lord, let’s just say I have survived my fair share of starcrimes and transit trauma. I know what it is to be a yung malefic trying to make sense of this world by decoding the heavens. And while every generation must interpret the stars in its own tongue, the planetary hot takes circulating now rarely move beyond chart rot and vague, half-chewed archetypes—fodder for the ego-mind to ruminate, but never transcend.
When rooted in its ontological function, astrology is not vanity musings for the mind. It is the poetic interface between the Absolute and its self-expression—a living syntax through which the One projects its infinite potential into form, sequence, and movement. Quite literally, it is a metaphysical map of consciousness. The planets and their corresponding archetypes are not decorative myths but emanations—frequencies through which awareness sculpts the texture of experience. We didn’t invent these symbols, but rather discovered them, as codes embedded in the unfolding of reality itself.
The planetary forces do not operate as external authorities. They are clockwork reflections of the Self, fractally mirroring back to itself the current geometry of its own projection. Each one reveals how the Self inscribes time onto the dream of separation, making visible the hidden architecture of attention.
The birth chart is not a personality profile, a diagnosis, or a cosmic sentence. It is a diagram of origination: a map showing where (your) attention first refracted into multiplicity within the field of form. This refraction—attention’s original curvature—is delineated by angles, at which the eternal entered the masquerade, turning outward and observing itself into myth and storyline. To study astrology at this level is to decode the blueprint of your divine geometry, and in doing so, to recognize yourself as architect.
In other words, the stars don’t govern your life. They reflect it, in symbols that remain incorruptible even when the interpretations falter. They are the high-resolution mirror through which awareness is given the opportunity to understand its own modulation into rhythm, embodiment, and persona.
This brings us to Sky Crimes—a series dedicated to the reclamation of astrological intelligence from the inertia of content culture, midwittian dramatics, and astro-therapeutic soliloquy. No lunar hysteria. Just clean signal through the mechanism of archetype.
New Moon in Leo
To understand the field dynamics of any astrological event, begin with the ruling planet of the sign involved and trace its archetypal origin. In the case of Leo, the ruler is the Sun.
What does the Sun represent?
The Sun is the archetype of pure awareness: the indivisible, unbroken field of perception out of which all experience arises. Unerring in its self-radiation, it is the constant through which all experience becomes perceptible. In architectural astrology—a system that interprets the zodiac as consciousness made spatial—the Sun is the ontological anchor of perception itself; the schematic of awareness made manifest. Its function is to radiate, and it does so without permission, apology, or feedback. The light moves outward from center to circumstance with total authority, unburdened by opinion or reciprocity. The Sun holds its place as the axis mundi of our system not because it is loudest or brightest, but because of its constance. Everything in its orbit is the theater of response—but the Sun remains the unmoved source from which all dramas derive their illumination.
It’s rays correspond to the will of awareness—the focused trajectory of perception as it moves from origin to object. In this way, the Sun reveals the law: what receives sustained attention proliferates and becomes a lived-in universe.
Leo, as the fixed fire sign, declares this law through sovereign radiance. The Leo archetype expresses the rightful enthronement of will. Not preference, not desire—will, as attention rendered directional. To will something in accordance with solar law is not to wish for it, but to saturate it with light. What receives undivided awareness organizes itself within that frequency. Ego imitates radiance. Will is radiance, consciously directed.
The Leo New Moon begins when the Moon disappears into the throne of the Sun, aligning the subconscious cycle with solar law. The fire turns inward in a moment of cosmic stillness—awareness withdrawing from diffusion in order to recollect its focus.
What do you intend to illuminate?
What deserves the incandescence of your focused attention?
What are you willing to unapologetically make real by refusing to look away?
Since the solar cycle’s inception in Aries, light (awareness) has moved through the full sweep of elemental sequence: fire’s curiosity to commence, earth’s germinating soil, air’s diversification of thought, water’s emotional nourishment. Each sign added dimensionality to the object of attention. With Leo, the light returns to fire—now refined through the patterns of process.
The objective of this lunation is singular: identify what remains a worthy object of your awareness and deliver your gaze there fully. Will you be ruled by the gravitational pull of collective distraction, or will you take your place as an emanation of solar will—choosing what is illuminated, what is nurtured and given life force through the light of attention? Let your answer rise from the origin-point of Being. Let it bypass justification, strategy, and sentiment. Trace it not with thought, but with fixed attention. Saturate it with presence. Refuse to look away. Every act of true attention is creative force.
Awareness, once clarified, is indistinguishable from will. The true invitation here is to become ruthless in your selectivity.
As always, beautifully written. Wish more people spoke like this about astrology. Thank you!
I would love to hear more about your take on astrology! I’m no expert but when every week these astrology influencers title their content with something along the lines of- “worst week ever” “get ready for massive shifts” or the like, it makes you question the validity. Do you use Whole/ Placidus/ Vedic?
